Joanna C. Kahan

“I came to this area of law because it matters. The stakes are real, and I approach every case that way.”

Joanna C. Kahan concentrates her practice in matrimonial and family law, representing clients across the full range of issues that arise in these proceedings: custody and parental access, child and spousal support, orders of protection, ACS matters, and property distribution. She also brings particular focus to asset tracing in cases involving complex financial circumstances.

Ms. Kahan earned her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as an Editor on the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender, participated in the Uncontested Divorce Program, and worked with Cardozo Advocates for Battered Women. During her first year of law school, she interned for the Honorable Harold Baer, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

She approaches each matter with a clear understanding of what is at stake for her clients — and an equal commitment to strong advocacy, whether she is at the negotiating table or in the courtroom.
